Dr. Nick North brings his versatile skillset to Bowen Sports Performance as a wellness/fitness/performance jack of all trades that focuses his passion and experience into the world of endurance athletics. A clinical Doctor of Physical Therapy, a licensed Physical Therapist, and a graduate-trained Exercise Physiologist and Sports Nutritionist, Dr. North is excited to work with current and future athletes towards the goal of improved functional and performance movement. His mission is to combine all his tools and abilities into one comprehensive service that enables clients to improve in all parts of the human performance spectrum (from couch to podium, and everything in-between) under his direct guidance and care.
As a clinician, Dr. North is uniquely poised to provide hands-on services to Bowen Sports Performance clients such as clinical massage, joint mobilization/manipulation, spinal traction, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, and dry needling therapy. In addition to his clinical experience, he is well-versed in nutrition guidance and tracking for sports performance, body composition, or metabolic/disease management purposes. He is also personally and professionally experienced in the practice of supplemental strength training as well as injury prevention/management, and mental toughness strategies for motivation, setting/changing goals, suffering loss/failure, and dealing with physical and psychological trauma.
Excited to break away from general clinical practice, Dr. North is also a certified USAC Level 3 Cycling Coach and aspiring Yoga instructor. An accomplished endurance athlete himself, he has a winning amateur race history in the disciplines of road cycling, gravel, cyclocross, marathon MTB, running, and triathlon. With his extra-clinical experience and credentials, he hopes to expand on the Bowen Sports Performance service menu with more than just Physiotherapy amenities, such as yoga classes, gravel/bikepacking camps, clinical bike fits, additional physiological and skills coaching, and regular community presentations.
When he’s not working with clients or training on a bike, Dr. North enjoys being outdoors on a hiking trail, camping in the backcountry, or on a river paddle. His inner nerd is satisfied with the occasional sci-fi novel, horror movie, or video game. He enjoys level-headed debates on topics of philosophy, politics, culture, and lifestyle health. A recent transplant to Oregon, he adores his lovely partner Nicole, and their 3 cats, in the charming house that they share in east Bend.
